NB* This is a full-time, site-based role located in Zambia. Candidates must be prepared to work on-site at the production facility, managing daily operations hands-on.
We’re looking for a technically minded Engineering Manager who is looking to make a lasting impact on agricultural production systems in a site-based leadership role!
We need a proactive and solutions-driven Engineering Manager to lead infrastructure operations at a large-scale production facility in Zambia. This on-site position offers a unique opportunity to oversee and drive engineering performance across a diverse range of systems — from mechanical and electrical to water supply, refrigeration, civil infrastructure and fabrication.
You will be responsible for ensuring reliable asset performance and minimising downtime by implementing robust preventative maintenance plans, coordinating technical teams, and delivering critical infrastructure projects. This role demands strong leadership, sound engineering judgment, and a deep understanding of agricultural production support systems.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Additional training in production systems, infrastructure planning or maintenance management will be an advantage
Experience Requirements
- 7+ years in engineering or maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Experience working in agricultural or large-scale production environments, ideally in rural or remote locations
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, utility infrastructure, and preventative maintenance planning
- Demonstrated ability to manage large teams, work cross-functionally, and maintain high delivery standards in a fast-paced setting
Responsibilities
Engineering Operations & Department Leadership
- Lead the engineering department across mechanical, electrical, civil, refrigeration, fabrication and planning disciplines
- Build a high-performing team culture, driving service delivery, safety, and technical excellence
- Ensure strict adherence to operational SOPs, safety protocols, and quality control standards
Infrastructure Maintenance & Asset Management
- Manage all infrastructure and utility systems to support uninterrupted production
- Implement preventative maintenance strategies across all equipment and site infrastructure
- Track asset usage, maintenance history, and develop replacement schedules using a data-driven approach
Water Systems, Utilities & Compliance
- Oversee all water supply infrastructure, pump systems, and delivery pipelines
- Ensure electrical systems are safely installed, adequately maintained and fully compliant with relevant regulations
- Monitor cold chain assets and refrigeration systems to maintain production efficiency
Planning, Procurement & Cost Control
- Lead internal fabrication and civil works projects from concept to delivery
- Forecast and manage spare parts inventory, consumables, and tool usage
- Collaborate with procurement and finance to ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely material availability
Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Plan site development and infrastructure upgrade projects in coordination with senior leadership
- Build strong working relationships with local service providers, utilities, and stakeholders
- Report on engineering performance metrics, risks and improvements to senior management
Skills
- Agricultural engineering and production infrastructure experience
- Preventative and reactive maintenance planning
- Strong mechanical, electrical, civil and water systems expertise

- Proficient in asset management systems and maintenance software
