HSE Manager – Solar PV – Zambia

We are recruiting an experienced HSE Manager to join an utility-scale Solar PV project in Zambia. The client plans to commence construction 40MW solar PV project with an overhead line grid connection.

Extensive experience in the development, implementation, monitoring, and auditing of Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and HSE Plans is required. These plans should ensure alignment with the Equator Principles, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHAct), and other applicable regulations and standards.

Please note that this role is based on-site. Fixed term contract of 24 months.

• Certification in HSE management systems or auditing (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is required

• Experience in developing, drafting, and implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and HSE Plans, for solar/hydro power projects
• Proven ability to monitor and audit EMPs and HSE Plans across contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, project goals, and the Equator Principles
• Expertise in providing HSE guidance and support to contractors and internal teams
• Ability to establish and maintain a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation measures
• Strong knowledge of OSHAct, Equator Principles, and relevant HSE regulations
• Proficient in preparing detailed HSE reports and presenting findings to stakeholders
• Ability to lead HSE incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing large-scale projects with multiple contractors
• Relevant degree or certifications in HSE management, environmental science, or a related field
• Driver's License is essential

• Fluent in English (speaking & writing),speaking local languages is advantageous
